    IDEA at METSTRADE 

    Earlier this month we exhibited at METSTRADE, the world’s largest trade exhibition of marine
    equipment, materials, and systems, at RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre.

    The event was very well attended and a huge success, it was great to see some familiar faces and meet many new ones! It was also a brilliant opportunity for our strategic partner Spectro | Jet-Care, to exhibit alongside us.

    FEATURE HIGHLIGHT – Recovery function in the IDEA Vessel Database

    This month we are spotlighting how to recover data in the vessel database:

    • Temporarily activate the recovery view to display all previously deleted elements (folders and entities), displayed in the vessel databases left navigation menu. In order to differentiate deleted elements from non-deleted data, they will be crossed out.
    • Next go to the main node in the vessel database, here you can switch on displaying previously deleted items: 
    • Once activated, navigate to the entity you wish to recover – this can be an entire domain or a single inventory item.
    • Next press the restore button.

    As soon as you reload the page or navigate to another module and back, the recovery function will be automatically turned off again.

    Key changes

    IDEA YACHT 2022.3 focuses on accessibility and ease of use. Both the web portal and the companion apps for Android or iOS got an extensive set of new features. Below you can find a high-level overview of all included changes:

    • New active crew list widget for your custom dashboard.
    • Improved layout drawing widget for all pages in IDEA YACHT, easily find any element with the integrated search, no matter which layout contains the element.
    • New feature enables the user to assign inventory items to crew members, and track handed-out equipment or uniforms directly in IDEA YACHT.
    • Customise what column tables IDEA YACHT will show you (including the order of columns) –
    This will be extended in upcoming releases to all overview pages.
    • Updated system menu, administration for IDEA YACHT is now easier than ever before.
    • Added NFC tag support for IDEA YACHT Mobile (Android & iOS), no need for barcodes or scanning with NFC, you just have to hold your device close to the tag to trigger action.
    • IDEA YACHT now allows you to provide feedback after updates directly from within the software.
    • IDEA YACHT now supports multiple layout drawings out of the box, you can group your data by decks or add a separate drawing for your tender.
    • New feature for IDEA YACHT mobile to quickly check-in or out your inventory/spare parts; You can use barcodes or the new NFC tags to get things done even faster.

    MONACO YACHT SHOW 2022 – JUST TWO DAYS TO GO!

    We are busy making final preparations for the world-renowned Monaco Yacht Show, which kicks off in just two days’ time.

    Join us at Monaco Yacht Show 2022

    We will once again be exhibiting at Monaco Yacht Show from 28th September – 1st October 2022.

    The Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) has announced new developments in its themed exhibition areas, once again proving its will to immerse visitors in the world of superyachting.

    The 2022 edition is set to confirm the status of the MYS’s “seducation” programme, which was launched last year. This three-year plan of action is designed to attract a new generation of yachting clients, thanks to two core concepts: “education” and “seduction” (aka “seducation”).

    How Captains, Crew and Management Companies can successfully manage growing demand for superyacht toys

    Modern superyacht owners and their guests are now more active and adventurous than ever, resulting in a growing need for the industry to cater for this new style of yachting; in the form of superyacht toys.

    Historically, yachts would have at most a few jet skis and a tender on-board and perhaps some diving equipment. For larger yachts, this would also include a space to land your helicopter.

    There is a growing trend in owners and (charter) guests now requesting numerous ‘superyacht toys.’ From small inflatable water toys, SeaBobs, Jetsurfs and Flyboards, up to jet skis and wave-runners. Then there are larger toys such as speed and wake boats to mini submarines!

    2022.2 Key changes

    IDEA YACHT 2022.2 is a milestone update, introducing major changes to both front and back-end systems. Below you
    can find a bullet point list of changes introduced in this release:

    • New layout drawing widget for your dashboard, handle stock updates, rounds and maintenance directly from your dashboard.

    • Further updates for the new “IDEA YACHT shell” – our new frontend solution; better support for touch screens and multiple screen sizes.

    • New mobile features, IDEA YACHT for all departments on board!

    • Purchase orders can be linked to external providers, including Laserfiche from iBos integration.

    • Comfort updates for the IDEA YACHT global search, vessel database and lab integrations.

    First Amels 60 Come Together sets sail

    We are proud to partner with Damen Yachting for software design and build on the new Amels 60 COME TOGETHER.

    This next generation superyacht has recently flown the nest and enjoying her first Med cruise ahead of a busy charter season.

    This vessel is the first Amels 60 with hybrid power and propulsion technology.

    IDEA YACHT 2022.1 introduces major changes to both front and back-end systems

    Key changes and improvements introduced in this release include:

    • New IDEA YACHT back-end, performance improvements and preparation for further planned changes.
    • Complete new IDEA YACHT Shell! The IDEA YACHT Shell now supports different menu modes, shortcuts and adds a fresh new look to IDEA YACHT.
    • Fully integrated ISM Forms with Word templates.
    • Purchase system supports shipping and handling fees with more dynamic reporting.
    • Framework for 3rd party integration. This enables IDEA YACHT to connect to accounting, purchasing, crewing or any other system on-board or via cloud portal.
    • System health widget for your custom dashboard.

    IDEA’s Customer Success and Product Manager Jan Langweg attended the Young Professionals in Yachting (YPY) Superyacht Summit in Pellworm from 5th – 8th May 2022.

    It was a great networking opportunity and Jan met fellow professionals ranging from designers, suppliers, crew, captains and engineers to management companies, law firms and shipyards.

    The event was very well organised by YPY Germany and M-Yachts with top-notch hospitality, an event agenda rich of social activities, engaging panels and group workshops on hot topics of the superyacht industry.

    It was great to share knowledge, meet peers in the industry and spread the word about IDEA! Enjoy some pictures of the fun (especially the mudlfat walk!).

    Integrated Software Management (ISM) made easy

    Guided by industry experts, IDEA recently started the journey to develop digital ISM management. The goal was to replace printed forms and PDF documents with simple, digitalised forms, checklists and standard operating procedure’s (SOP’s).

    Benefits of these improvements include reduced time spent on administrative tasks, ability to focus on other important tasks on board as well as convenience and flexibility.

    What is IDEA Online Academy?

    A free, interactive e-learning platform which is designed to give you more detailed insights in our products and services. Sessions will be led by an IDEA product expert or a carefully selected guest speaker.

    How can I get involved?

    Join our live, interactive sessions, which will take place at the first monday of the month and will last for around an hour led by one of our in-house experts or carefully selection guest speaker.
