    After the trade fair season is before the trade fair season: The Boat Show 2023

    The water sports world is looking forward to the joint start of the season in Düsseldorf. From January 21 to 29, 2023, boot will open its doors again on its regular date at the beginning of the year. Ticket sales have just started and visitors are looking forward to their event in Düsseldorf. We are also looking forward to being part of the Beiderbeck stand (Hall 7a / Stand G23).

    IDEA at METSTRADE 

    Earlier this month we exhibited at METSTRADE, the world’s largest trade exhibition of marine
    equipment, materials, and systems, at RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre.

    The event was very well attended and a huge success, it was great to see some familiar faces and meet many new ones! It was also a brilliant opportunity for our strategic partner Spectro | Jet-Care, to exhibit alongside us.

    FEATURE HIGHLIGHT – Recovery function in the IDEA Vessel Database

    This month we are spotlighting how to recover data in the vessel database:

    • Temporarily activate the recovery view to display all previously deleted elements (folders and entities), displayed in the vessel databases left navigation menu. In order to differentiate deleted elements from non-deleted data, they will be crossed out.
    • Next go to the main node in the vessel database, here you can switch on displaying previously deleted items: 
    • Once activated, navigate to the entity you wish to recover – this can be an entire domain or a single inventory item.
    • Next press the restore button.

    As soon as you reload the page or navigate to another module and back, the recovery function will be automatically turned off again.

      • All items will get a storage, no magic quantity in the “void”
      • All stock changes will be looked in a readable and trackable manner

        • Reference to the element that triggered the change (maintenance task, purchase)

    In the current state a lot of changes happen in the backend, screenshots are rare good right now. Nevertheless below are some early state views for the stock history page and the state editor for purchase.

    The new purchase page itself will show up next month but will follow the concept of the new permission page. Overview about your states on the left, right side table with purchase orders in the related state.

    Key changes

    IDEA YACHT 2022.3 focuses on accessibility and ease of use. Both the web portal and the companion apps for Android or iOS got an extensive set of new features. Below you can find a high-level overview of all included changes:

    • New active crew list widget for your custom dashboard.
    • Improved layout drawing widget for all pages in IDEA YACHT, easily find any element with the integrated search, no matter which layout contains the element.
    • New feature enables the user to assign inventory items to crew members, and track handed-out equipment or uniforms directly in IDEA YACHT.
    • Customise what column tables IDEA YACHT will show you (including the order of columns) –
    This will be extended in upcoming releases to all overview pages.
    • Updated system menu, administration for IDEA YACHT is now easier than ever before.
    • Added NFC tag support for IDEA YACHT Mobile (Android & iOS), no need for barcodes or scanning with NFC, you just have to hold your device close to the tag to trigger action.
    • IDEA YACHT now allows you to provide feedback after updates directly from within the software.
    • IDEA YACHT now supports multiple layout drawings out of the box, you can group your data by decks or add a separate drawing for your tender.
    • New feature for IDEA YACHT mobile to quickly check-in or out your inventory/spare parts; You can use barcodes or the new NFC tags to get things done even faster.

    Monaco Yacht Show 2022 – the debrief

    IDEA is proud to be one of the 450 hand-picked companies that exhibited at the world-renowned Monaco Yacht Show this year, which represents excellence and innovation in yachting.

    Representing IDEA were (left to right above): Vitaly Fedorov, Sales Manager, Felix Menges, Head of Sales,  Roberto Millo, Regional Area Manager, Diego d’Esposito, Software Developer and Jan Langweg, Head of Professional Services and Business Development.

    Monday – Arrival Day

    Our team arrived a couple of days early to ensure they were fully prepared and to give visitors to our stand the best possible experience. We checked some statistics and were happy to find that a huge 70% of vessels on display at the show already feature IDEA YACHT software.

    Tuesday – Prep Day

    With our Booth all set up and ready to go, we tested all of our presenting materials and began making some great contacts with individuals from other companies who were also exhibiting at the show.

    Wednesday – Launch day!

    Vitaly and Roberto welcomed our first round of customers.

    We attended a number of planned meetings with management companies before finishing the day with dinner and drinks with our friends from Siebensee.

    Thursday – Day Two

    Felix and Jan joined the YPY Monaco breakfast to start the day.

    Today was another busy day; we spoke to captains, engineers, management companies and suppliers. We also enjoyed a visit from the CEO of Spectro who we’ve partnered with, along with his wife.

    We switched to party mode at 17:00 prompted by YPY Germany’s Gin Call at our booth!

    Friday – Day Three

    Felix & Jan started the day by visiting crews. This enabled them to get feedback on IDEA and meet other contacts from the industry.

    We spent another busy day chatting to existing and new customers. It was great to get general feedback from our users and target audience.

    We discovered that the new NFC / barcode / QR code functionality of the IDEA app has been a great success. Customers really like it and being user friendly and intuitive it is helping us to reach deck and interior departments on board who would benefit from using IDEA.

    We rounded off the day with dinner and drinks with our friends from Yacht Glas.

    Saturday – Day Four, The Final Day

    Rest of the team had a great last day of the show

    Diego and Felix a project we did recently to get a feeling for the final product and to hear some direct feedback from our users.

    After enjoying the end of year show, the team faced the task of dismantling the booth ready to return home after a busy week of hard work and lots of networking!

    We will take all the feedback and information we’ve received at the show to continually improve IDEA Yacht’s functionality and user experience.

    Join us at Monaco Yacht Show 2022

    We will once again be exhibiting at Monaco Yacht Show from 28th September – 1st October 2022.

    The Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) has announced new developments in its themed exhibition areas, once again proving its will to immerse visitors in the world of superyachting.

    The 2022 edition is set to confirm the status of the MYS’s “seducation” programme, which was launched last year. This three-year plan of action is designed to attract a new generation of yachting clients, thanks to two core concepts: “education” and “seduction” (aka “seducation”).

    How Captains, Crew and Management Companies can successfully manage growing demand for superyacht toys

    Modern superyacht owners and their guests are now more active and adventurous than ever, resulting in a growing need for the industry to cater for this new style of yachting; in the form of superyacht toys.

    Historically, yachts would have at most a few jet skis and a tender on-board and perhaps some diving equipment. For larger yachts, this would also include a space to land your helicopter.

    There is a growing trend in owners and (charter) guests now requesting numerous ‘superyacht toys.’ From small inflatable water toys, SeaBobs, Jetsurfs and Flyboards, up to jet skis and wave-runners. Then there are larger toys such as speed and wake boats to mini submarines!
