25 Years of Superyacht Management Excellence

On The Horizon - May - IDEA Data Solutions

As we move further into our 25th anniversary year, it’s been great to see how quickly things are progressing across the IDEA platform – not just in terms of new features, but in how everything is starting to connect more naturally into one consistent, reliable workflow for managing superyachts and fleet.

A big milestone for us this year has been the release of our new Finance Module. Built directly into IDEA YACHT, it brings budgets, expenses, approvals, and reporting into one place, giving crews and management real-time visibility without the need to rely on spreadsheets or disconnected systems. The goal is simple: clearer oversight, fewer blind spots, and more confidence in everyday decision-making onboard. If you haven’t explored it yet, you can take a closer look here: Discover the IDEA Finance Module.

At the same time, we’re continuing to listen very closely to the challenges crews face around audits and compliance. Preparation is often where the real pressure builds, so we’ve started looking into a new pre-audit tool designed to make that process more structured, more predictable, and far less stressful. This is still in its early stages, and we’re actively gathering feedback to shape how it develops. If you’ve ever been through an audit and have thoughts on what would make it easier, we’d really value your input here: Share your feedback in our pre-audit survey.

…everything we’re working on – whether it’s finance, compliance, asset management, or training – comes back to the same simple goal: making life easier onboard while protecting the asset and the people running it.

Out on the road,  Palma was another highlight for the team this year. Being back in the Superyacht Village with our friends Spectro | Jet-Care – and seeing so many familiar faces as well as new ones – reminded us how important these moments are. It’s not just about showcasing new developments, but about having real conversations with the people using the system every day. And of course, our Gin & Tonic reception didn’t disappoint. It’s become something of a tradition now, and it was great to celebrate 25 years together in such a relaxed setting.

Looking ahead, Palma also gave us a chance to start shaping what’s next. Preparations for METSTRADE are already underway, with plans for our biggest and most ambitious presence yet as we continue celebrating our anniversary year. We’ll be sharing more details on the stand and what to expect very soon – including the announcement of our co-exhibitors.

Looking a bit further ahead, one area we’re particularly excited about is the future of our legacy SBA platform. What started as a powerful asset and maintenance system is now evolving into something much broader. We’re exploring how we can build a more flexible asset management solution — one that isn’t limited to yachts, but can support everything from tugboats and commercial vessels through to supercars and even property. The goal is to bring the same level of structure, protection, and clarity to any high-value asset, regardless of sector.

The IDEA Academy and our webinar series are also continuing to grow. Our recent session with Ocean Independence on ISM compliance showed just how useful it is to combine technical insight with real-world operational experience — focusing on what actually helps crews stay prepared day-to-day, not just on audit day. Alongside this, we’ll be launching a brand-new interior course as part of the IDEA Academy, something we’re really looking forward to as we continue building out support for every department onboard. We’ve also got more webinars in the pipeline with strategic partners and experienced crew, all centred around practical ideas and real use cases.

As always, everything we’re working on – whether it’s finance, compliance, asset management, or training – comes back to the same simple goal: making life easier onboard while protecting the asset and the people running it. There’s a lot more to come this year, and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you.
