We are excited to introduce a new standalone module called IDEA Crew Board that allows you to sreamline your crew’s check-in/check-out procedure. There’s no need to sign into IDEA YACHT, Crew Board is a standalone solution that is linked to your IDEA database and always live and updated.

IDEA YACHT Release 2024.1

2024.1 Key changes
The latest IDEA YACHT software release 2024.1 introduces significant improvements and new features for enhanced user experience. In the Logs and Rounds module, a redesigned frontend streamlines the update workflow and facilitates the creation of rounds with drag-and-drop, step-by-step wizards, and layout controls. Performance improvements optimise running rounds. The Maintenance module now features a customisable history table, and IDEA Snag List supports custom tags for efficient sharing.
The IDEA App introduces Dark Mode for nighttime use. The Spectro | Jet-Care Integration provides real-time tracking of lab samples with suggested intervals. Purchase Order (PO) approvals are expedited, and a new notification system allows users to define groups for system actions. The new IDEA Crew Board module simplifies crew check-in/out without logging into IDEA. Additionally, a module for Alcohol Tracking monitors volume and alcohol levels with a specialised report. These updates collectively enhance functionality, usability, and communication within the IDEA YACHT software.

New Feature: Hours of Rest autofill
- Easy auto fill a given timeframe with your default working hours in one click
Improvements: New Maintenance history table
- Customise the columns you want to see
- Added new column to show the user that has performed the task
Improvements: Snag Lists
- Snag List now support custom tags
- You can share multiple Snaglist from a workflow in on click
- If you connect components/task and close the sang list a history record in the related components is created
New Feature: Dark mode for the IDEA App
- Run the app in dark mode, less bright colors if you use it during the night etc.
New Feature: New Spectro | Jet-Care Integration for lab samples
- See exactly where your lab samples are, like tracking a parcel or online order
- Create sample interval tasks based on the suggestions of Spectro | Jet-Care to never miss sampling again
New Feature: Purchase Order (PO) approval changes
- Quicker approval and move to next state in one click
- Purser permission to allow adding elements after approval
- Useful for shipping costs, or travel costs that where unknown during the initial PO run
- Request re-approval for changed POs
New Feature: Complete new Notification system
- Define groups for given system actions like, snag list created
- Notifications can be managed at central point
- Possible integration for custom notifications or 3rd party gateway, talk to us
New Feature: Alcohol tracking for tax/customs
- Track volume from spare parts and alcohol level
- Special report to print out total amount of alcohol on board

- Easy to use, standalone extension of IDEA to check in/out crew that is always live and updating with your IDEA database

We frequently receive the request for a Lloyds type approval.Kindly note IDEA Yacht itself has no type approval. IDEA Crew Board

We are excited to introduce a new standalone module called IDEA Crew Board that allows you to sreamline your crew’s check-in/check-out procedure. There’s no need to sign into IDEA YACHT, IDEA Crew Board is a standalone solution that is linked to your IDEA database and always live and updated.
How IDEA Crew Board Works:
- Browser-based: IDEA Crew Board can be easily loaded on any device to allow for flexibility
- Security first: You can set a PIN from your IDEA YACHT settings page to ensure that only your crew can log in and out.
- Crew information: IDEA Crew Board allows for images and contact information for your crew.
- Integration: IDEA Crew Board is linked to your IDEA YACHT installation, so no need to use multiple systems or upload information twice.
We’re constantly evolving IDEA Crew Board;In our 2024.2 release we added more functionality including:
- Check in 3rd parties onboard, like contractors, reviewers, visitors etc. (below)
- Auto-fill to remember previous visitors, this is useful in case it’s a periodic visit, like IDEA checking your build process and to make documentations/take photos.
- Scan in Crew ID cards to quickly check in/out (requires crew ID card module).
- New overview tab, showing everybody onboard (crew and visitors).
- Quickly navigate to IDEA Crew Board. Scan the QR code (printed and shared) to open the board from anywhere.
In our 2025.3 release we added enhancements to its visitor functionality- Added a button that allows a user to print rotation log report for all visitors visible in the “Visitors” page
- A new column in the “Visitors” page, column should be called “Responsible Department”
- New tab in the “Visitor form” for showing rotation log
- Added a switch to changes state for a visitor from on board to disembarked
- New drop-down field called: “Crew ID Card Category” for visitors (on the “Crew Board” page and “Visitors” page)
- New field called: “Card Number” for visitors (on the “Crew Board” page and “Visitors” page)
- Add rotation log for visitor
- Add rotation log report for visitors
- Add the “Archived” tab in the “Visitors” page to show all visitors with this state
- Allows the user to customise the table visible on the “Visitors” page
- Allows to set the “Archived” status for a visitor
- Visitors can be assigned the “off board” status
- Fixed columns from the “Visitors” page that were located outside the white background
Crew Board brings enhanced convenience and efficiency to your day-to-day crew management, allowing for accurate information of who’s onboard and checking working hours alongside your IDEA YACHT solution.

We frequently receive the request for a Lloyds type approval.Kindly note IDEA Yacht itself has no type approval. Simply because the re-approval process that would be required when we update the software, which we do at least 4 times per year, would make this a very costly process. Which in the end would result in higher costs for the user.However there are many vessels out there with (individually) approved systems. We have spoken to class about this. And ultimately what they need to see and will approve is not the software itself but the system setup. For example if all critical equipment has been entered into the database, all related maintenance tasks are programmed, etc.So in the end it comes down to a vessel specific survey and approval. IDEA YACHT: A Year of Striking Advancements
Our flagship product, IDEA YACHT, witnessed significant advancements throughout the year. The 2023.1 update introduced the revolutionary IDEA Snag List module, bringing a new level of collaboration and flexibility to our suite of products. Whether tracking to-do items across different departments, documenting refits, or managing warranty claims, IDEA Snag List empowers users with unprecedented control.
Updates to our Budget and Finance modules cam in our second release of the year, an enhanced global search feature, and continued development of the IDEA YACHT APP marked our commitment to providing comprehensive solutions. The app now includes notifications, Snag List, and Standard Operating Procedures, among other functionalities. Release 2023.3 brought a new update pilot streamlines the process of automatically updating software for non-replicating installs, ensuring our clients always have access to the latest features.
Furthermore, our NFC Tags became even more user-friendly, simplifying rounds and making operational tasks more efficient for yacht crews.

Did you know that IDEA offer two login modes.
The default mode offers users a drop down list to choose a login name from.
This option, while more convenient, is not recommended if you use online portals, or offer none-crew persons access to your network.The more secure mode is the user name login, where you need to enter a login name and password.The login modes can be changed in the system settings:
Note that you can also change the password complexity here.If you wish to change to this mode always make sure that all your accounts have a login name set and that your users are aware of this user name and its necessity after the upcoming login mode change.

IDEA YACHT Snag List now available to try for free!
IDEA YACHT Snag List now available to try for free!
The IDEA YACHT Snag List module makes snagging more efficient, including the ability to mark locations on the GA, attach documents, notes, images/videos, and implement customisable workflows to log defects onboard your vessel. All of this can be done by using your existing database and components – Snag List is fully integrated into IDEA YACHT.
Plus, don’t forget you can use Snag List on the IDEA YACHT Mobile App!
We’re letting you try this new module out for free until 31st January 2024. There’s no need to do anything, we’ve enabled it automatically. Just look for Snag List on the left-hand side menu. If you can’t find it, then contact our support team on support@idea-data.com.
